White Sauce

White sauce

It's a super basic white sauce. What else is there to know?


  • 2 Tbsp butter
  • 2 Tbsp flour
  • ⅛ tsp salt
  • Dash white pepper
  • 1 cup milk

Total Time: 10 minutes

Yield: 1 cup


You can also do this in the microwave. Use small increments of time (about 1 minute) and stir in between.


  1. In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour, salt and pepper until smooth. Gradually whisk in the milk. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened. Use immediately or refrigerate.
