Ham and Cheese Scones

Savory scones!


  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp sugar
  • ⅛ tsp cayenne pepper
  • ⅓ stick butter
  • ⅓ cup buttemilk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1½ cups grated cheese (Parmesan and cheddar are good)
  • ¾ cup diced ham
  • ½ green onion, sliced

Cook Time: 20 minutes


  1. Combine dry ingredients. Divide butter into pats and cut into flour mixture. Toss in cheese.
  2. Beat eggs and buttermilk, then add to the dry ingredients and mix. Knead a few times and pat into a thick 6" circle. Cut dough in half horizontally Sprinkle in ham and green onion. Replace top. Pat down flatter. Cut into wedges.
  3. Bake 20 minutes at 400°F, until lightly golden brown.
