Ham and Cheese Scones
Savory scones!
Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp sugar
- ⅛ tsp cayenne pepper
- ⅓ stick butter
- ⅓ cup buttemilk
- 2 eggs
- 1½ cups grated cheese (Parmesan and cheddar are good)
- ¾ cup diced ham
- ½ green onion, sliced
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Instructions
- Combine dry ingredients. Divide butter into pats and cut into flour mixture. Toss in cheese.
- Beat eggs and buttermilk, then add to the dry ingredients and mix. Knead a few times and pat into a thick 6" circle. Cut dough in half horizontally Sprinkle in ham and green onion. Replace top. Pat down flatter. Cut into wedges.
- Bake 20 minutes at 400°F, until lightly golden brown.
