Chocolate Cake

This is my go-to cake for all occasions. Who needs a special occasion to bake a cake?

Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1¾ cups flour
  • ¾ cup cocoa powder
  • 1½ tsp baking powder
  • 1½ tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup oil
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup boiling water

Cook Time: 35 minutes

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, stir together the dry ingredients. Add the remaining ingredients and mix with an electric mixer on medium speed for 2 minutes. Stir in the boiling water. (The batter will be thin.) Pour evenly into prepared pans. Bake at 350 F for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes on a wire rack, then remove from pans and allow to cool completely before frosting.
