Buttermilk Waffles

Buttermilk waffles

For some reason these were a dinner food growing up, never a breakfast food.


  • 1¾ cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • ⅓ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs

  1. Preheat waffle iron as manufacturer directs. In large bowl with whisk, mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  2. Add buttermilk, oil, and eggs to flour mixture and beat until thoroughly blended.
  3. Pour batter into center of lower half of waffle iron until it spreads to about 1 inch from edges.
  4. Cover and bake as manufacturer directs; do not lift the cover during baking time.
