I have no idea where this recipe came from originally, but it's become a family staple for Christmas (which is the only time you can actually find the mint M&Ms for this).
The cookbook called these "Dad's Favorite" chocolate chip cookies. But it turned out the cookbook was wrong and they were, in fact, Mom's favorite.
This is a half batch of the original recipe, but it still makes a lot of cookies.
These are another family classic cookie, from my Great Aunt Pat. Despite claiming to be "never-fail," I've still managed to mess them up at least once, since I had a version of the recipe with a list of ingredients and no instructions.
Even in cookies, the secret is cheese -- in this case, cream cheese. It keeps the cookies moist and prevents blandness. Also butter. Always butter.
